Arrival/Dismissal Procedures

Please help us keep your child safe by always informing your child’s teacher of your dismissal plans.

Every family will receive a  pick up pass with a family number.  This will be used for car riders and walkers.  If your child is a bus rider, please save it in case of an emergency. 

Arrival 7:10-7:30 AM

  • BUS: Students will enter through the back doors near the gym.
  • CAR: You can enter the parking lot to line up starting at 7:00 AM.
    • Drop off will be at the front of the school beginning at 7:10 AM.  Please form two lines
      • Lane A: Enter from Inner Loop: Students will exit the vehicle independently.
      • Lane B: Enter from Katy Crossing: Students will wait for a staff member to help exit the vehicle
      • All students will exit the passenger side of the vehicle
    • Please DO NOT let your student out in the morning before a staff member is outside ready to welcome your child.
    • Please, stay in your vehicle at all times.  There will be NO parking during arrival and dismissal.
    • A staff member will be controlling the traffic flow with a STOP/GO sign.  Please remain at a complete STOP until the sign is turned to “GO”.
    • After dropping off your student, please merge. Right turn ONLY as you exit the driveway.
    • At 7:30 AM, staff members will enter the building. A parent or guardian will need to park and walk their student into the front office to sign them in for a tardy pass.
  • WALKERS: Please enter through the back walking gate.  A staff member will monitor your child as they walk to the back doors near the gym.
  • All students will be encouraged to go straight to the cafeteria for breakfast before heading to class.  If your child eats breakfast with us, please remind them to go straight to the cafeteria. 

Dismissal 2:45 PM

  • IMPORTANT: Last-minute dismissal changes and early pick ups end at 2:15 PM.  After this time, please continue with your regularly scheduled pick up.
  • BUS: Please be aware of bus traffic entering from Katy Crossing and exiting toward Inner Loop
  • CAR: You can enter the parking lot to line up starting at 2:30 PM.
    • Your pick up pass  (with number) MUST be visible at all times in the line!  Please keep your pick up pass  on your rear view mirror until you leave the parking lot. 
    • If you do not have your pick up pass, you will be asked to go to the front office to verify your ID and whether you have permission to pick up the student.  Students will only be released to adults listed in Skyward. 
    • You must stay in your vehicle at all times to ensure the safety of students and the efficiency of dismissal.
    • There will be a staff member controlling the traffic flow with a STOP/GO sign.  Please remain at a complete STOP until the sign is turned to GO
  • WALKERS: Parents will meet their students on the west side of the building, on the grass between the fence and large blocks.  Please make sure your tag is available.
  • Grades K-2nd will be dismissed to parents. A staff member will check tags
  • Then, grades 3rd-5th will be dismissed to meet parents or walked across the crosswalk to enter the neighborhood.

YMCA Before and After School Care

YMCA Care is provided at Cooper Elementary both before and after school. You can register for YMCA Care through Williamson County YMCA.
